You exert 85 to 150 lbs. of pressure on your wrists in the process and cause the same stress on your back, hips and knees. It doesn't matter whether you have dual casters or or tires the size that fit a wheelbarrow, rolling your chair around on carpet or a plastic floor mat your are asking for health problems!
Second, a parquet floor mat adds the aesthetic warmth of oak to an office of any style or decor. Our floor mats are made of durable oak parquet in a thickness of 1/2" to 5/8" and finished with a penetrating wood stain and sealed with a coat of 'Dura Finish' wax buffed to a satin luster. The lifetime of a plastic mat, according to the records kept at Bank of America, is 3.7 years. With proper care and maintenance, which is minimal, a parquet floor mat should last longer than the ergonomic chair an executive or secretary sit on. We guarantee our product for one year from date of delivery.
In the office environment the Japanese have less than 5% of the complaints that we do here in America. They use much of the same computers, office equipment and other paraphernalia that we use here in the U.S.
However, in Japan the only people that have carpet in their office are executive officers. All the other personnel roll their chairs around on hard surfaces. The next time you watch a program with a presentation about Japanese workers , observe for yourself what they are rolling their chairs on. It's a hard surface such as our old asphalt tile, only theirs is a vinyl material.
Carpet and cheap plastic chairmats are hazardous to your health. If you want to prove this statement yourself, buy a piece of plain plywood 3/8" thick and large enough for an area where you move around in your office chair. You will notice an instant change in your mobility to move around freely. Every time you push yourself away from your desk on carpet is the same as lifting 100 pounds of dead weight.
